Named in honour of Eddie Pitch, a former Canadian professional golfer and respected insurance advisor and broker, the event reflects his two greatest passions: golf and giving back. Eddie wasn’t just known for his skill on the course; he was admired for his warmth, humour, and dedication to helping others. Whether mentoring young players, supporting clients through his insurance practice, or sharing a laugh with friends, Eddie lived with a spirit of generosity and connection that continues to inspire everyone who knew him.
Eddie often said, “In golf, as in life, timing is everything. You can’t rush the swing, the day, or the journey. You just trust the rhythm and play it through.” That simple belief reflected who he was, patient, steady, and deeply attuned to life’s moments. Whether on the course or with the people he cared for, Eddie had a way of reminding everyone that the best things happen when you move with purpose and trust your timing.

Continuing the tradition Eddie and Mickey began with their tournaments at The Board of Trade Country Club, the Eddie Pitch Open is proud to once again support the Starlight Children’s Foundation.
The Starlight Children’s Foundation brings joy, comfort, and hope to seriously ill children and their families through uplifting programs and memorable experiences. From hospital visits and in-hospital entertainment to support services and community outings, Starlight helps brighten the lives of children facing medical challenges across Canada. Their goal is to create moments of happiness that provide relief from the stress of treatment and recovery, reminding families they are not alone.

Eddie and a partner won the Manitoba Junior Best Ball Tournament, marking the beginning of a lifelong passion for golf.

Eddie took hockey legend Dave Keon to play his first round of golf. Years later, they reconnected and played together again in Florida.

He once beat Canadian golf legend Moe Norman by a single stroke in the Manitoba Open, and had to chase Moe down in the parking lot when he nearly left without him.
Three Humble Holes-in-One
Eddie had three holes‑in‑one, though you’d only know if you asked, he was never one to brag.

He lit up whenever he saw a younger golfer with potential, doing everything he could to encourage and help them.

Your registration covers green fees, power cart, snack bag, pre or post-tournament meal. You'll also receive a commemorative gift and access to contests throughout the day including, lowest foursome, closest to the pin, longest drive, and a putting contest. Net proceeds from the event will be donated to the Starlight Foundation to help fulfill wishes for terminally ill children.
The Eddie Pitch Open is played in a team scramble format.
Each team of four works together, with every player hitting a shot from the same spot and then choosing the best ball to play next. This format keeps the pace fun and inclusive, whether you're a seasoned golfer or just out for a great day in honour of Eddie.
Registration is easy! You can sign up as an individual player ($200) or register your complete foursome ($700 - save $100). Simply complete our online registration form, provide player information, and submit payment to secure your spot. Early registration is recommended as spots fill up quickly.
In 2025, all net proceeds supported the Canadian Digestive Health Foundation. In 2026, we're excited to share that we will be raising funds for the Starlight Children's Foundation® Canada, which is the same wonderful foundation that Eddie and Mickey championed for two years during their tournament at the Board of Trade Country Club.
